Here’s how you can get around Anna Maria Island
This is one place where everyone takes island time seriously
When it comes to picking out the right destination spot in the sunshine state, it can seem like a rather daunting task. That’s because Florida has so much to offer when it comes to picture-perfect beaches, from the gulf coast to the treasure coast and back around again.
Florida truly is an ideal destination getaway and vacation spot for people all over the world for many different reasons, and Anna Maria Island, north of the bustling city of Jacksonville, might be one of them. Below are several different ways you can get around the island.
Rent a golf cart
Anna Maria Island is small enough that you can truly relax and feel like you’ve got a good stretch of the beach to yourself, but big enough to fit every traveler’s needs. One of the best things about the island is its size.
If you want to get around the island without needing a car, your best bet might be to rent a golf cart. As a matter of fact, many local businesses provide golf cart rentals for decent prices. They are also a great way to get from one point of the island to another. You can also park them right at your rental home without any problems, too. Just make sure that you check with your hotel or rental providers first.
Try biking your way through the island
While a lot of people do opt for golf cart rentals, another great option (especially if you want to get a workout in during your vacation) is to rent a bicycle. In fact, this could be a fun way to get around the island, especially if you are visiting with your family. Plus, who doesn’t mind burning off calories after a fun-filled dinner with family and friends, right?
What better way to check out the sunset in the evening than to go on a bicycle ride with your family, right? Locals will suggest you take advantage of one of several different trails that are specifically dedicated to bicycles. These are located on both on the north end of the island and along the very scenic Coquina bike path. If you do choose to rent a bicycle, make sure that everyone in your party wears proper safety equipment at all times. In addition, make sure to familiarize yourself with all of the local rules.
Go on a Segway tour
Another fun trend that will help get you from one destination or point to another is with a Segway tour of the island. The great thing about Anna Maria Island is that both you can choose to have a tour with a professional guide or you can opt to go on a self-guided tour as well.
Many of these tours will not only take you throughout the island, but also along Coquina Beach and Leffis Keys as well. Another hot spot you don’t want to miss is the historic tourist area along Bridge Street.
It’s been noted that most of the tours are suitable for children ages 14 and older.
With that said, you really don’t need to rent a car on your trip to Anna Maria Island, especially if you have transportation to and from the airport. That’s because the island has been specifically built to allow you to experience everything it has to offer without having to worry about any additional hassles or issues.
If that doesn’t sound like a dream vacation, then we don’t know what is! Definitely put Anna Maria Island on your bucket list for your go-to list. That sound you hear is the beach calling your name.
